Hi Barb,
I just finished listening to the video. You did a very good job. You’re talking at a good pace which is easy to listen to. You talked clearly and it was easy to understand. I found you seemed to get more comfortable as you went along. I love some of the handouts that I have not seen before. The poem Elephant in the Room really moved me. So did Begin with Yes and also Grief is Love with nowhere to go. I think they are perfect for work like this. I also liked the grief charts. You should be very proud of the work you have done.

Hi Barb,
I finally got a chance to go through your package, sorry for the delay! It looks great! I found the video to be helpful with explaining and giving context for how conversations may go and how the tools may be applied during sessions in the work. The worksheets are eye-catching and easy to read which I think is always good. I felt like all the worksheets and directions were simple, practical, and accessible for those who may have difficulty with starting conversations around grief. It is awesome that you’ve created this package and I’m sure people will find it helpful, definitely a great beginners guide!

Best,
Aisha

Barbara has tried to answer many ‘practical practice dilemmas’ to empower and enhance other professional colleagues. She has designed ‘a loss toolkit’ that can resource those participating clinicians with new materials designed to map out ‘session ready materials’ to help strengthen their client’s weakened coping mechanisms. Sensitive and well-themed lessons offering practical interventions, which can provide supportive care-staff who are meeting daily with individuals who are often struggling with very painful journeys in their lived experience of just making a way through loss.

As an innovative teacher/facilitator/instructor, Barb has focused during this critical time on the acute needs of grief, and on creating a set of professional practice tools for this work. She has also designed this package by offering to also enrich supervised mature care-givers or trained helpers/volunteers with a set of foundational companion activities and resources as they serve the bereaved in their capacity.

My hope is that you will consider this collection of foundational bereavement resources as something to augment other educational materials you may currently use. It is my further belief that this ‘toolkit for loss’, will be a valued addition to other practical healing applications you may presently use everyday to work with your bereaved clients to help them to integrate their grief going forward.
