The loss of a child at any stage of life is traumatic and often goes unacknowledged. When pregnancy or infant loss occurs often times no one knows what to say or do. For parents of the child, talking about this loss may fall on deaf ears.
Where does someone go to for help in this case?
A part of my training is with “Perinatal Bereavement Services Ontario” (PBSO) where individuals who have had a child die prior to the due date or within a year after the birth of the child can seek support.
The organization has had a name change and is now called “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network”. For those seeking help with their own grief or wanting to better understand this unique loss experience in an effort to support someone else the following information is supplied:
- Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network also known as “PAIL Network”
- PAIL Network email address firstname.lastname@example.org
- Web site (under construction) www.pail.network.ca or go to www.pbso.ca/main until their transition is completed
